{"id":767,"date":"2009-09-21T01:14:49","date_gmt":"2009-09-21T08:14:49","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.never30.org\/blog\/?p=767"},"modified":"2012-05-27T10:23:06","modified_gmt":"2012-05-27T17:23:06","slug":"common-sl-photography-mistakes-and-how-to-avoid-fix-them","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.never30.org\/blog\/common-sl-photography-mistakes-and-how-to-avoid-fix-them\/","title":{"rendered":"Common SL Photography Mistakes and How to Avoid &#038; Fix Them"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Here are some of the most common mistakes when taking photos in Second Life and how to avoid them or fix them:<\/p>\n<p><strong> <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong> <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong> <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong> <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><span style=\"color: #99cc00;\">Avatar Names and Tags are Showing<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: normal;\">Avoid: Turn off avatar name display (set to &#8220;Never&#8221; in your settings on the General Tab.<br \/>\nFix: You can remove them using the &#8220;Spot Healing Brush Tool&#8221; in Photoshop or you can blur them out if the photo is not going to be of professional quality. \u00a0If the background is too busy, yo may have to reshoot, \u00a0this time removing the avatar name tags first.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #99cc00;\">SL Voice Dot Showing<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: normal;\">Avoid: Have the avatar disable voice. (You can disable your voice also)<br \/>\nFix: Using the &#8220;Spot Healing Brush Tool&#8221; in Photoshop usually fixes this issue.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #99cc00;\">Rigid Edges<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: normal;\"> (Not as much a mistake than it is an annoyance)<br \/>\nAvoid: If you have the luxury of being able to use antialiasing, then bump it up to at least 4x before you begin your shoot.<br \/>\nFix: You can use the blur tool in Photoshop to soften the edges where they are rigid.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #99cc00;\">Too Much White Space (or Space) <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: normal;\">There&#8217;s too much space around your subject and the background is either too boring or too busy.<br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: normal;\">Avoid: Zoom in! \u00a0Get your camera loser to your subject and forget about what&#8217;s going on in the background.<br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: normal;\">Fix: Crop your photo.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: normal;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #99cc00;\">Scenery Has Low Detail<\/span><br \/>\n<\/strong>Avoid: Increase some sliders in your Graphics Settings such as the Object slider, Flexiprim Slider, and Tree Slider. \u00a0Experiment with what sliders give you the best result and what your graphics card can handle.<br \/>\nFix: Use sharpen to increase the detail or increase the contrast and\/or play with the gamma to decrease the amount of light shown on objects and areas of your photo that have noticeably low detail. \u00a0Blurring those areas is another option, thus focusing in on your subject.<br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: normal;\"> <\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Here are some of the most common mistakes when taking photos in Second Life and how to avoid them or fix them: Avatar Names and Tags are Showing Avoid: Turn off avatar name display (set to &#8220;Never&#8221; in your settings on the General Tab.
